A Small Light Gray Apartment with Period Features
On the top floor of a stately Art Nouveau building in Stockholm lies this charming one-bedroom apartment with period details from the turn of the century and light rooms painted in a soft gray hue.
The apartment is only 35 square meters, but with a ceiling height of more than 3 meters and views of the sky from the windows, the rooms feel more spacious than their actual floor plan. The apartment has a thoughtful layout with a spacious hall that opens into the semi open living room and kitchen, and a tiny bedroom.
The living room and kitchen are designed in a semi-open floorplan, meaning that the large windows in the sitting room and the kitchen flood both spaces with natural light.
Period features like stucco, mirror panels, and high skirting boards have been preserved and combined with a beautiful wooden floor and walls painted in Nordsjö’s color “City Life”.
The table is placed under the window and closest to the kitchen. It’s a perfect spot for a morning coffee or a nice dinner with views of the rooftops and the sky.
The kitchen is tiny but extremely functional ánd stylish. The kitchen is designed by Nordiska Kök and pairs classic, light gray cabinets with Silestone countertops. Silestone looks like marble but is more durable.
On one side, a double row of upper cabinets make the most of the high ceilings, adding plenty of storage space. The walls are painted in Nordsjö’s color, “Quiet Hideaway”.
A unique element to the kitchen is the custom-made cooker hood designed by the cultural sheet metal craftsman Owe Zetterström. It’s a fantastic design piece with edges for hanging frying pans and other kitchen utensils.
There is no door between the living room and hall, creating a more open atmosphere and allowing light to flow throughout the apartment.
The bedroom is tiny but big enough for a double bed. A small ledge adds storage space, so you won’t need a nightstand. The walls are painted in Nordsjö’s “Scroll Beige”.
The hall is smartly designed with a brass rail for coats and bags. More storage is offered in the form of a spacious double wardrobe with mirrored doors that give the hall the impression of being larger than it is.
